Doctor-who-christmas-special.jpg
Whether you're alone on Christmas, don't celebrate the holiday or just need to escape your relatives for a few hours, there are plenty of things to do on Dec. 25 to entertainingly pass the time. We've highlighted five simple activities you can take part in that don't require much effort or money. Cheers to surviving the holiday season!
  • 1. Watch the 'Doctor Who' Christmas Special

It's cold outside, but things will heat up on Doctor Who's annual Christmas episode, which airs at 9 p.m. ET on BBC America. Two reasons to tune in: A thrilling trailer for the special reveals a barrage of monsters (Cybermen, Daleks, Weeping Angels and The Silence); plus, the Doctor will regenerate from Matt Smith into Peter Capaldi at the end of the episode.
  • 2. Listen to the Most-Streamed Holiday Music

The time has come to play the perennial holiday favorites -- Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby and Andy Williams -- but don't forget the season's hottest crooners on streaming-music services, including Michael Bublé, Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis. Over on Spotify, the top 10 most-streamed Christmas songs list is dominated by Bublé, who owns nine of the spots, while Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" ranks at No. 2. Check out our eclectic playlist for some holiday goodness.
  • 3. Check Out Netflix's New Series for Kids

TBS never wants you to forget that Ralphie wants "an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!" The TV network will be airing the 1983 holiday classic movie A Christmas Story all day on Dec. 25 because, you know, it's tradition to watch this film at least once every year. We're sure you'll have 98 minutes to spare. Aside from TBS, you can rent or buy the movie on Amazon Instant Video, iTunes and YouTube.
